Letter from Crystal
(10/22/2007) - Hi Everyone!
I hope you had a great summer. Mine was wonderful. President George H. W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, invited Bill and I to join them on a two week cruise in the Mediterranean with their family and friends. We visited several Greek islands and ports. We were honored to be included on such an extraordinary trip.
Along with doing concerts this summer, I went back to my two hometowns. The first was Wabash, Indiana, where I grew up. I sang several songs with my piano player, Dean Slocum, at a fundraising reception and dinner called "For the Love of Martha." Martha Jones, who was my high school English teacher, loved the arts and the Honeywell House. The proceeds from the event went to the Martha Jones Program Fund for the Honeywell House. It is now a beautiful bed and breakfast.
I recently got back from the Kentucky Apple Festival in Paintsville, Kentucky, where I was born. I was the Grand Marshall in the parade, and performed later that evening. I was surprised and pleased that my sister, Loretta Lynn, came to see my show and sing with me -- it was a first! She was also in town for the wedding of her friends, Lynn Turner. Our best wishes for the happy couple. The next day, Bill and I put together a reunion luncheon for our close family of about two hundred people! It had been way too long since our last reunion.
I wish you all the best.
Crystal
